The PCRefresh client is installed on each public PC and even staff PC's. The default settings are those preferred by most public libraries and academic institutions. When active, the system writes every change to a virtual location in memory. Simply logging in as an administrator permits you to change the system parameters and choose to enable/disable the system for acceptable updates and software installation. Durring protected mode you can allow patrons or students to do anything they please on your computer. A reboot (which can be automatically invoked with a PC Reservation session setting) forces all changes to be discarded in which case the PC returns to its default state. This Refreshes the system and it becomes ready for the next user.
